Patterns that make the best melodies

patterns in architecture

On a chillen Saturday afternoon, while making melody on the piano with my humming bird friends that hang around my “music room”, my elder brother walks in determined to say something. Obviously, he had been listening to me play from the main house and he says, do you know some of the best  hit songs have the same 4 chords played repetitively throughout the song. All they do is vary the rhythm, the pattern, the tempo but it’s the same old 4 chords. ”

And just like that I had that Aha moment this week while designing my studio project. It’s all about the pattern. The pattern makes the melody so beautiful you can’t help but sing along or in this case in architecture, to STARE at.

Take me back to Barcelona, Spain.  My, oh my, I just kept taking photos of the patterns on the buildings.

Let’s have a look,
