Foods on study trips

Foods on study trips is a topic of study in itself. No doubt it makes the world go around besides being a survival need but also with the emotions that goes with it.

Our journeys exploring the world reveal a whole different realm of food. From Italian pizzas in Napoli, to French baguettes, to Korean kimchi, avocado infused delicacies of Brasilia and to my favorite Maasai Nyama Choma.

It’s always amazing seeing students from Kenyan Schools trying out a new menu besides the mundane fries and some of the most profound names we hear them singing to include.

Pork Knuckle

One of the traditional German delicacies is quite a fill to skip other meals of the day. The recipe is made up of Potatoes, Pork, and Soups and often downed by beer.

Goulash

In the Pest side of Hungarian Capital, Budapest, you find the backstreets with the best Goulash served while hot. Goulash is a soup or stew of meat and vegetables seasoned with paprika and other spices. Originating in Hungary, goulash is a common meal predominantly eaten in Central Europe but also in other parts of Europe

Czech Roast Duck

One cannot miss a duck while in Prague or any other city in the Czech Republic. Bohemian roast duck served with red cabbage and dumplings is quite a sumptuous fill in this East European capital.

French Tiramisu

No such a delicacy we often see students swearing to like the French Tiramisu. The servings presented like work of art are a true testament of Paris being a city of pleasure.

Pizza

One of the most famous foods needs no introduction and no other place to experience its true taste like in Rome. The typologies are many to fill up our notebooks. The original pizza taste is the best.

Korean Kimchi

If there is food that requires a mental preparation, it is Kimchi. What a choreography of food! This Korean dish deserves silence while indulging in it due to the tears that may accompany novice travellers.

Those and millions of others define our cultures, regions and reinforce our identity. Going back to Nairobi with refined taste.
