Overview

Law & Culture Trip to France & Germany

We start in Paris, where the Palais de Justice wears centuries of French legal history like a perfectly tailored robe. Here, marble halls whisper about trials that shaped the nation, while outside, the city dazzles with its usual confidence. We’ll swap legal robes for art appreciation at the Louvre, wander through quarters where every corner café could be your next love story, and test our willpower against the call of fresh baguettes, escargots, and pastries so flaky they should be considered a security risk.

Not to lose the steam in our legal adventure, we will embark on a journey south east  to the Alsace region famous for its natural forests and beautiful terrain. The city of Strasbourg will be our home for the few days as we practice our diplomatic bearings by exploring the international and intergovernmental institutions present.

One of the most picturesque cities, Strasbourg houses the international court of human rights, the European parliament, Council of Europe among many other international agencies. Our desires for exploration will not stop there as we will visit one of the leading schools of law for a diplomatic engagement.

The city also boasts a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its Grande ÃŽle (historic city center) and is famous for its medieval architecture, including the impressive Strasbourg Cathedral.

To top up our academic trip, we will explore the historical centre of Strasbourg  starting with the grand Strasbourg Cathedral, Alsatian Museum and La Petite France: A picturesque district characterised by half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and the Ill River, offering students an insight into the traditional Alsatian culture.

Strasbourg was heavily influenced by the shifting control between France and Germany, especially during and after World War II. Visiting the city provides an opportunity to explore the impact of border changes, conflicts, and treaties on European history. We will visit one of the famous Chateaux in Alsace and later experience a rare site related to World War 2.

As it's situated near the border with Germany, we will have an excursion across the river Rhine to the city of Kiel for more cultural experiences.

Onwards to Germany, this journey will be more than just sightseeing—it’s a chance to experience the heart of Bavarian culture through its stunning architecture, rich history, and world-famous traditions.

We’re looking forward to wandering through Marienplatz, admiring the intricate neo-Gothic façade of the Neues Rathaus, and visiting iconic landmarks like the Frauenkirche, Nymphenburg Palace, and Olympiapark. From Baroque palaces to futuristic design, Munich is the perfect place to see how architecture reflects both history and innovation.

But the real highlight? Oktoberfest! We can’t wait to be part of the world’s largest beer festival—donning traditional attire, enjoying hearty Bavarian food, and soaking up the joyful atmosphere in the beer tents. It’ll be a full cultural immersion, complete with music, dancing, and a celebration like no other.
